Roberto Abramowitz was born in New York City, raised as a child in Mexico City, but is a true New Yorker, quick with insightful commentary on any subject.
He has been working in the professional sports industry since 1978 when, while attending Brooklyn College, became the color analyst for the New York Arrows indoor soccer team’s radio broadcasts.
After that he’s gone on to have a long and varied career broadcasting and writing about sports (and news) with his broadcasts being heard from the Canadian border all the way down to Tierra del Fuego, and at times around the entire world.
Roberto has mostly made his mark in the US, Mexico and Latin America calling NFL games. First for NYC’s FOX 5 via SAP, later for ABC on their Monday Night Football broadcasts, and then for ESPN International and Deportes for their top tier Sunday Night Football broadcasts, while also filling in on Monday Night Football when needed.
In 2012, Roberto was selected as the sole voice in Spanish for the Thursday Night Football broadcasts for NFL Network (and later CBS Sports) and continues to be one of the voices of the NFL on CBS on Sundays.

NYCFC SOCCER ON RADIO AND YES NETWORK
Roberto has been the sole Spanish language play by play voice of New York City FC since they debuted in Major League Soccer in 2015.
The games have aired locally on WADO Radio and on ESPN Deportes radio in NYC and also on YES Network (TV) via SAP. NYCFC matches are heard iternationally on nycfc.comlivestream. He is also the co-host on the popular English language “Soccer In The City” podcast.
CBS SPORTS/NFL Network
Roberto has been calling NFL games on television for over 25 years. Since 2014 he has been doing solo broadcasts on CBS.
Before that he was the sole voice in Spanish of Thursday Night Football broadcasts via SAP on NFL Network, which launched for the 2012 season and ended in 2017 (with CBS picking up the games in 2014. The broadcasts were heard in the US, Mexico and Central America, plus around the world on NFL Game Pass. Abramowitz was lauded for his broadcasts on Deadspin and FanSided.
HBO
Abramowitz has been the narrator in Spanish for HBO's 24/7 boxing series as well as doing voice acting for their NFL show, Hard Knocks. He was also part of the Spanish language broadcast team of World Championship Boxing and Boxing After Dark and a frequent contributor dubbing Real Sports. The broadcasts can be heard on HBO SAP audio channel or as the main audio on HBO Latino.
ESPN DEPORTES AND INTERNATIONAL
Abramowitz, was heard up and down the Americas in both Spanish and English on ESPN International in Latin America and ESPN Deportes in the US for over 25 years between 1994 and 2019.
He was ESPN's most multi-faceted talent having broadcast the NFL, NBA, MLS, NHL, WNBA, College Football, Basketball, Baseball, Softball, Bowling and Lacrosse; Arena Football, Euroleague Basketball, international Soccer, PBA (Bowling) and Billiards in Spanish. He also has called soccer games in English including a Spanish League match between Atlético Madrid and Deportivo La Coruña which was broadcast worldwide, as well as in the U.S. on ESPN2. Additionally he did play by play for two US Women’s National Team games vs. Germany and the Netherlands. Roberto was a frequent host on Cronómetro (the Spanish language version of ESPN's PTI) which is one of the top rated shows on the network and also appeared on Fútbol Picante, NFL Esta Noche and Juego Cruzado.
ABC SPORTS
Abramowitz in 1998 reached the pinnacle of Spanish-language broadcasting as an analyst for "Monday Night Football", including Superbowl XXXVII between the Raiders and Bucaneers. He also handled play-by-play of NHL hockey including the several Stanley Cups, the U.S. National Soccer Team and MLS soccer during ABC Sports' SAP productions. Up until 2019 he broadcast the NBA (including several NBA Finals and College Football in Spanish via SAP.
ESPNDEPORTES.COM
Abramowitz also served as the first Editor-In-Chief of ESPNDeportes.com, ESPN's Spanish-language Internet portal from 2000 to 2001. He built the site from scratch guiding the site's editorial content and philosophy.
NY KNICKS/NFL RADIO/ARMY FOOTBALL
Roberto was also part of "los (New York) Knicks en español" radio & TV (SAP) team, and Univisión & Westwood One’s Radio's Monday Night Football broadcasts as well as doing color for Army Football radio broadcasts in the New York City area.
FÚTBOL MUNDIAL MAGAZINE
Abramowitz has been the Editor-in-Chief of Fútbol Mundial magazine (www.futbolmundial.net) since its inception in 2002. The magazine, which started out as a quarterly publication, became the largest Spanish language sports magazine and Men's magazine in the US with a circulation of close to a million issues monthly and over 2.5 million readers.
Abramowitz oversaw all of the Mundial Groups publications, Béisbol Mundial, Fútbol Mundial USA (in English) and the Vida Latina newspaper.
EL DIARIO/LA PRENSA
He previously worked at El Diario-La Prensa, New York City's leading Spanish-language newspaper, as Sports Editor from 1983 to 1986, and returned in 1989 as Night Editor, less than a year later he was elevated to Metro Editor and was promoted all the way up to Assistant to the Publisher.
WFM 96.9 Radio (México)
In Mexico City he was the co-host of a rock-and-roll radio show -W Tops- on Mexico's leading rock station WFM 96.9 with Charo Fernández, and producing "Golden Years," which was hosted by now noted Oscar winning filmmaker Alejandro González Iñárritu, and Oscar nominated audio guru, radio host and voice over talent, Martín Hernández.
MOVIES
Film credits include co-writing and narrating "Todos los Corazones del Mundo," the official film of the XV FIFA World Cup.
PERSONAL
An avid pool player and bowler, Abramowitz is married, and he and his wife Brenda welcomed their only child, Eddie in 2006. They all live in Washington Heights.
